Finland offers a unique blend of stunning landscapes and rich culture, making it an appealing destination for some Turkish travelers. Although there has been a decline in tourist arrivals, the country's natural beauty and cultural experiences continue to attract interest. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Finland to be an intriguing option.
Finland is considered one of the safest countries in Europe for tourists, including those from Türkiye. It ranks 8th out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, significantly safer than Türkiye, which ranks 31st. According to the Global Peace Index, Finland is ranked 13th out of 160 countries, again much safer than Türkiye, which is ranked 137th. In terms of crime statistics, Finland has a lower murder rate at 1.6 per 100,000 people compared to Türkiye's 2.5. Additionally, while the female murder rate is slightly higher in Finland (1.1) than in Türkiye (1.0), the overall safety indicators suggest that Finland is a much safer destination. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights the differences in crime networks and organized crime, with Türkiye scoring significantly higher (worse) across various categories compared to Finland. For example, Türkiye has a mafia group index of 8.0, while Finland's is 3.0, indicating a lower presence of organized crime. Overall, tourists from Türkiye can feel secure while visiting Finland, given its high safety ratings and lower crime rates.
