Finland is an appealing destination for some Japanese travelers, thanks to its stunning landscapes and rich culture. Although tourist arrivals have fluctuated recently, the country's unique offerings continue to attract interest. With approximately 500,000 Japanese traveling abroad annually, a portion of these travelers may be inclined to explore Finland.
Finland is considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Japan. It ranks 8th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. According to the Global Peace Index, Finland is the 13th safest country in the world, closely comparable to Japan, which ranks 17th. In terms of crime rates, Japan has a significantly lower murder rate (0.2 per 100,000 people) compared to Finland (1.6). However, Finland exhibits lower indices in organized crime categories, suggesting a relatively safe environment. For example, Finland scores better than Japan in state crime and human smuggling. Overall, while there are some differences in crime statistics, both Finland and Japan are regarded as safe countries for tourists.
