Ethiopia offers a unique appeal for visitors from Nepal, featuring a rich cultural heritage and historical sites. Its diverse tourism options, including cultural, adventure, and business experiences, make it an intriguing choice for some Nepalese travelers. With 1.2 million Nepalese traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ethiopia an attractive destination.
Ethiopia's safety for tourists, including those from Nepal, is a concern. The Global Peace Index ranks Ethiopia 142nd out of 160 countries, significantly lower than Nepal's rank of 78th. In terms of murder rates, Ethiopia has a rate of 8.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Nepal's 2.1. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights differences in crime levels, with lower scores indicating better safety. For instance, Ethiopia scores 2.0 for mafia groups, while Nepal scores 4.5. However, both countries have similar scores for crime networks (6.5). Overall, while Ethiopia has rich cultural and historical attractions, potential travelers should remain cautious and stay informed about safety conditions.
