In terms of murder rates, Egypt has a lower overall murder rate of 2.6 per 100,000 people compared to Thailand's 4.9. However, crime indices from the Global Organized Crime Index suggest higher levels of state crime and organized crime in Egypt, with a state crime index of 8.0 compared to Thailand's 6.5. While Egypt may have lower murder rates, the perception of safety can vary, and tourists should remain vigilant and informed about local conditions.
