Egypt is generally safer for tourists compared to Syria. According to the Global Peace Index, Egypt ranks 103rd out of 160 countries, while Syria is ranked 153rd. The murder rates are relatively close, with Egypt at 2.6 per 100,000 people and Syria at 2.2.
