Egypt is an appealing destination for many visitors from Qatar, thanks to its rich history and cultural heritage. Despite recent fluctuations in its tourism sector, Egypt continues to be a significant part of its economy and offers valuable opportunities for cultural exchange. A segment of the approximately 3 million Qataris may find Egypt particularly interesting to explore.
Egypt is generally considered safe for tourists, but it has a lower safety ranking compared to Qatar. According to the Global Peace Index, Egypt ranks 103rd out of 160 countries, while Qatar is ranked 29th. The murder rate in Egypt is 2.6 per 100,000 people, compared to Qatar's very low rate of 0.3. In terms of organized crime, Qatar scores better overall, with lower indices in various categories such as mafia groups (Qatar 1.0 vs. Egypt 3.0) and state crime (Qatar 6.0 vs. Egypt 8.0). However, certain crime rates, like human trafficking and drug trade, are present in both countries, with Egypt having higher rates in some areas. While tourists from Qatar can visit Egypt with precautions, it is advisable to stay informed about local conditions and follow safety guidelines.
