Germany offers a compelling mix of cultural heritage, modern amenities, and varied attractions, making it an appealing destination for travelers. Its historical landmarks, such as the Berlin Wall and Neuschwanstein Castle, attract millions of visitors annually. With around 100,000 Mauritians traveling abroad each year, a portion may find Germany an intriguing option to explore.
Germany is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Mauritius. According to the Global Peace Index, Germany ranks 20th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety. In comparison, Mauritius ranks slightly higher at 22nd. While Germany is ranked 29th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, it has a lower murder rate of 0.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Mauritius's 2.6. In terms of organized crime, Germany has higher indices for mafia groups and crime networks, but lower scores for state crime and certain trafficking activities compared to Mauritius. Overall, both countries have their safety challenges, but Germany is considered safe for tourists.
