Cyprus is an appealing destination for some visitors from Uzbekistan due to its rich cultural heritage and strategic location in the Mediterranean. With 8.4 million Uzbekistanis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Cyprus an attractive option for tourism and cultural exchange.
Cyprus is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Uzbekistan. It ranks 11th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. However, according to the Global Peace Index, Cyprus is ranked 86th out of 160 countries, which is lower than Uzbekistan's ranking of 58th. In terms of murder rates, both countries have similar figures, with Cyprus at 1.3 and Uzbekistan at 1.4 per 100,000 people. Regarding organized crime, Cyprus has a lower score in mafia activities (3.5) compared to Uzbekistan (5.0), indicating a relatively lower presence of organized crime. However, some areas, such as foreign crime and human trafficking, show higher scores for Cyprus, suggesting that these issues are more prevalent there. Overall, while both countries have their challenges, Cyprus is considered a safe destination for tourists.
