Cyprus offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and strategic location in the Mediterranean, making it a potentially appealing destination for some Chinese travelers. With 20.3 million Chinese citizens traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Cyprus an attractive option for their travels.
Cyprus is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from China. It ranks 11th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. According to the Global Peace Index, Cyprus is ranked 86th out of 160 countries, which is similar to China's ranking at 87th. In terms of crime statistics, Cyprus has a murder rate of 1.3 per 100,000 people, compared to China's lower rate of 0.5. While organized crime indices suggest that Cyprus has a lower score (indicating better safety) in areas like mafia groups and state crime, it does have higher scores in foreign crime and human trafficking compared to China. Overall, while there are some differences in crime statistics, Cyprus remains a safe destination for tourists.
