Cyprus offers a compelling destination for some Bahraini visitors, thanks to its rich cultural heritage and strategic location in the Mediterranean. With approximately 500,000 Bahrainis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Cyprus appealing for its tourism opportunities and cultural experiences.
Cyprus is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Bahrain. It ranks 11th among 40 European countries in terms of safety while walking alone at night. However, according to the Global Peace Index, Cyprus is ranked 86th out of 160 countries, which is lower than Bahrain's ranking of 79th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Cyprus is 1.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Bahrain's very low rate of 0.1. Additionally, while organized crime indices indicate some challenges in both countries, Bahrain scores better in several categories, such as mafia groups and human trafficking. Overall, while Cyprus is relatively safe, tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and exercise caution, as they would in any foreign destination.
