Cyprus is an appealing destination for some visitors from the United Arab Emirates, given its rich cultural heritage and strategic location in the Mediterranean. With 6.3 million Emiratis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Cyprus an interesting choice for their travels.
Cyprus is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It ranks 11th among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, although specific data for UAE tourists is not available. According to the Global Peace Index, Cyprus is ranked 86th out of 160 countries, which is lower than the UAE's ranking of 52nd. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Cyprus is 1.3 per 100,000 people, compared to 0.5 in the UAE. Female murder rates are 1.1 in Cyprus versus 0.4 in the UAE. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that the UAE generally has lower crime indices across various categories compared to Cyprus, particularly in areas like mafia groups and organized crime. Overall, while Cyprus is relatively safe, tourists from the UAE may find it to be less secure than their home country based on these statistics.
