Cuba offers a captivating mix of cultural heritage and natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for some Vietnamese travelers. Its colonial architecture, vibrant salsa music, and beautiful beaches contribute to its charm. Despite recent challenges, Cuba's tourism remains a key part of its identity and economic strategy, attracting a segment of Vietnam's 98 million population.
Cuba is generally considered safe for tourists, but it is not as safe as Vietnam. According to the Global Peace Index, Cuba ranks 96th out of 160 countries, while Vietnam ranks 41st. The murder rate in Cuba is higher, at 5.0 per 100,000 people compared to Vietnam's 1.5. In terms of organized crime, Cuba has lower scores in several categories, indicating a higher level of risk in areas such as mafia groups (Cuba 4.0 vs. Vietnam 6.0) and crime networks (Cuba 2.5 vs. Vietnam 7.0). However, Cuba scores better in foreign crime (Cuba 1.0 vs. Vietnam 6.0) and arms trafficking (Cuba 1.5 vs. Vietnam 4.0). Overall, while Cuba is relatively safe, tourists from Vietnam should remain vigilant and take standard precautions while traveling.
