Cuba offers a unique blend of cultural heritage and natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for some Azerbaijani travelers. Despite facing recent challenges, its colonial architecture, vibrant salsa music, and stunning beaches contribute to its charm. With around 1 million Azerbaijanis traveling abroad annually, there is potential interest in visiting Cuba among this group.
Cuba is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Azerbaijan. According to the Global Peace Index, Cuba ranks 96th out of 160 countries, which is better than Azerbaijan's ranking of 104th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Cuba is higher at 5.0 per 100,000 people compared to Azerbaijan's 1.9. However, Cuba has lower indices for organized crime, particularly in areas like foreign crime (Cuba: 1.0 vs. Azerbaijan: 5.5) and arms trafficking (Cuba: 1.5 vs. Azerbaijan: 3.0). While tourists should always exercise caution and be aware of their surroundings, Cuba is relatively safe compared to Azerbaijan in several crime-related aspects.
