Costa Rica offers a compelling destination for Indonesian travelers due to its rich biodiversity, vibrant culture, and welcoming atmosphere. With a diverse tourism landscape that appeals to both adventure enthusiasts and those seeking relaxation, it could attract a portion of the 500,000 Indonesians who travel abroad annually.
Costa Rica is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Indonesia. It ranks 56th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, which is lower than Indonesia's ranking of 47th. In terms of crime statistics, Costa Rica has a higher murder rate of 11.4 per 100,000 people compared to Indonesia's low rate of 0.6. While both countries have challenges with organized crime, Costa Rica has a lower score for state crime (1.5) compared to Indonesia (7.5), indicating a relatively stronger governance in that area. However, Costa Rica does face issues with drug trafficking, particularly cocaine, which has a higher index score (7.0) than Indonesia's (4.0). Overall, while Costa Rica has its safety concerns, it remains a popular tourist destination, and with standard precautions, visitors can enjoy their stay.
