China is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Tonga. According to the Global Peace Index, China ranks 87th out of 160 countries, indicating a moderate level of safety. In terms of homicide rates, China has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.5 per 100,000 people compared to Tonga's 2.9. However, when looking at organized crime, China has higher indices in several areas, such as mafia groups (7.0) and crime networks (7.5), compared to Tonga's lower scores. Despite this, certain types of crime, like arms trafficking and human smuggling, are lower in China than in Tonga.
