China offers a compelling mix of modern infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and varied natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Russian travelers. With approximately 12.4 million Russians traveling abroad annually, a portion of this group may find China an attractive option. Despite fluctuating tourism trends, China remains a significant player in the global tourism market.
China is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Russia. According to the Global Peace Index, China ranks 87th out of 160 countries, while Russia is significantly lower at 154th. In terms of murder rates, China has a rate of 0.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Russia's 6.8, indicating a much lower risk of violent crime. Additionally, while both countries face challenges related to organized crime, China's indices are generally more favorable. For example, in terms of mafia groups and state crime, China scores higher (7.0) than Russia (4.5 and 8.5, respectively). Overall, tourists from Russia can expect a safer environment in China, with lower crime rates and less violent crime.
