China offers a compelling mix of modern infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and varied natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Mexican travelers. With 7.3 million Mexicans traveling abroad annually, a portion may find China an intriguing option despite fluctuating tourist trends.
China is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Mexico. According to the Global Peace Index, China ranks 87th out of 160 countries, while Mexico ranks 136th. The murder rate in China is significantly lower at 0.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Mexico's 28.2. In terms of organized crime, Mexico scores worse across various categories on the Global Organized Crime Index, with higher indices indicating more severe issues. For example, Mexico scores 9.0 for mafia groups and crime networks, while China scores 7.0 and 7.5, respectively. Overall, tourists from Mexico can expect a safer environment in China based on these statistics.
