China offers a compelling mix of modern infrastructure, cultural heritage, and diverse natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Iranian visitors. With 1.6 million Iranians traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may find China an attractive option for their travels.
China is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Iran. According to the Global Peace Index, China is ranked 87th out of 160 countries, while Iran is ranked 131st. The murder rate in China is significantly lower at 0.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Iran's 2.2. In terms of organized crime, both countries have similar scores, but China has lower indices for state crime and foreign crime, indicating a relatively safer environment for tourists. For example, the state crime index for Iran is 9.5, while China's is 7.0, and the foreign crime index is 5.0 for Iran compared to 3.0 for China. Overall, while no country is without risks, tourists from Iran may find China to be a safer destination based on these statistics.
