Canada offers a rich blend of cultural and natural attractions, making it an appealing destination for some of Rwanda's 14 million residents. Although there has been a recent decrease in tourist arrivals, the country's unique charm still attracts millions of international visitors annually.
Canada is considered one of the safest countries for tourists, ranked 11th out of 160 countries in the Global Peace Index, significantly safer than Rwanda, which is ranked 90th. According to the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, Canada's murder rate is 2.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Rwanda's 3.6. In terms of organized crime, Canada has a higher index score (5.0) for mafia groups than Rwanda (1.0), but lower scores for state crime (2.0 in Canada vs. 5.0 in Rwanda) and human trafficking (3.5 in Canada vs. 5.0 in Rwanda). Overall, while both countries have their challenges, Canada generally offers a safer environment for tourists.
