Canada offers a captivating blend of cultural charm and stunning natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for Swiss travelers. Although there has been a recent decline in tourist arrivals, millions of international visitors still choose Canada each year. With 6.1 million Swiss traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may find Canada to be an intriguing option.
Canada is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Switzerland. According to the Global Peace Index, Canada ranks 11th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety, comparable to Switzerland's 6th place. While Switzerland boasts a lower murder rate (0.5 per 100,000) compared to Canada (2.1), both countries maintain a relatively low crime rate overall. In terms of organized crime, Canada scores slightly higher than Switzerland in some areas, such as mafia presence (4.5 for Switzerland vs. 5.0 for Canada) and human trafficking (3.5 for Canada vs. 5.0 for Switzerland). However, Canada has lower indices for arms trafficking and resource crime, suggesting a more favorable environment in those aspects. Overall, tourists from Switzerland can feel secure while visiting Canada, as it remains one of the safest countries globally.
