Belarus offers a unique blend of cultural and natural attractions that may appeal to some Turkish travelers. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, there is potential for a segment of this population to be drawn to Belarus as a destination.
Belarus presents a mixed safety profile for tourists from Türkiye. It is ranked 38th out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, which is lower than Türkiye's 31st position. However, according to the Global Peace Index, Belarus ranks 110th out of 160 countries, making it safer than Türkiye, which is ranked 137th. In terms of crime rates, the murder rate in Belarus is 2.4 per 100,000 people, slightly lower than Türkiye's 2.5. However, female murder rates are higher in Belarus at 1.7 compared to Türkiye's 1.0. Regarding organized crime, Belarus has lower indices in several categories compared to Türkiye, indicating a relatively better situation in terms of mafia presence, crime networks, and various trafficking issues. Overall, while Belarus has certain safety concerns, it also has aspects that may be considered safer than Türkiye in specific contexts. Tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and exercise caution while traveling in Belarus.
