Belarus offers a unique blend of cultural and natural attractions that could appeal to some Sri Lankan travelers. With around 300,000 Sri Lankans traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Belarus an intriguing destination worth exploring.
Belarus presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Sri Lanka. It is ranked 38th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. In the Global Peace Index, Belarus is ranked 110th out of 160 countries, which is lower than Sri Lanka's ranking of 99th. When looking at murder rates, Belarus has a rate of 2.4 per 100,000 people, which is lower than Sri Lanka's rate of 3.5. However, various crime indices indicate that both countries have similar organized crime scores, with Belarus scoring slightly worse in state crime (9.0) compared to Sri Lanka (7.0). Overall, while Belarus is not the most dangerous destination, tourists should remain cautious and informed about their surroundings.
