Belarus offers a blend of cultural and natural attractions that could appeal to some Chinese travelers. With 20.3 million Chinese tourists traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Belarus an intriguing destination due to its unique landscapes and historical significance.
Belarus presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from China. According to safety rankings, Belarus is 38th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. The Global Peace Index ranks Belarus 110th out of 160 countries, which is lower than China's ranking of 87th. In terms of crime statistics, Belarus has a murder rate of 2.4 per 100,000 people, compared to China's significantly lower rate of 0.5. Additionally, Belarus scores higher in various organized crime indices, indicating more challenges related to state crime and human trafficking. Overall, while Belarus can be visited safely, tourists should remain vigilant and aware of their surroundings, as it is generally considered less safe than China.
