Botswana offers a unique appeal for travelers, featuring vast savannas and diverse wildlife, making it an intriguing option for some Nepalese visitors. With 1.2 million Nepalese traveling abroad annually, a portion may find the less crowded, distinctive experiences in Botswana particularly attractive.
Botswana is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Nepal. According to the Global Peace Index, Botswana ranks 49th out of 160 countries, which is better than Nepal's ranking of 78th. In terms of crime statistics, Botswana has a higher murder rate of 10.5 per 100,000 people compared to Nepal's 2.1. However, Botswana has lower scores in organized crime indices, indicating a relatively lower presence of mafia groups and organized crime networks. For example, Botswana scores 1.0 for mafia groups, while Nepal scores 4.5. Overall, while visitors should remain vigilant and take standard safety precautions, Botswana is considered safer than Nepal in terms of organized crime and general safety for tourists.
