Brazil offers a rich array of cultural experiences and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some of Guyana's approximately one million residents. Its well-developed tourism infrastructure supports a variety of attractions, including famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest, enhancing its attractiveness for visitors from Guyana.
Brazil presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Guyana. According to the Global Peace Index, Brazil is ranked 129th out of 160 countries, while Guyana is ranked higher at 109th. In terms of crime statistics, Brazil has a higher murder rate at 22.5 per 100,000 people compared to Guyana's 16.3. Additionally, female murder rates are also higher in Brazil (3.5) than in Guyana (2.2). The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Brazil faces significant challenges with organized crime, scoring worse than Guyana in several categories. For example, Brazil's index for mafia groups is 7.5, while Guyana's is 3.0. Overall, while Brazil has many attractions for tourists, it is important to be aware of the safety concerns and crime statistics that suggest a higher risk compared to Guyana. Travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about their surroundings.
