Brazil offers a rich array of vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Greek travelers. With a well-developed tourism infrastructure and attractions ranging from famous beaches to the Amazon rainforest, it could attract a portion of the 2 million Greeks who travel abroad annually.
Brazil presents certain safety challenges for tourists, particularly when compared to Greece. While Greece ranks 40th for safety among European countries, Brazil is ranked 129th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index. In terms of crime statistics, Greece has a significantly lower murder rate at 0.9 per 100,000 people, compared to Brazil's 22.5. Additionally, female murder rates are 0.6 in Greece versus 3.5 in Brazil. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Brazil faces higher risks from organized crime, with indices showing that Brazil's mafia groups and state crime are rated worse than those in Greece. Overall, while Brazil is a popular tourist destination, visitors from Greece should remain aware of these safety concerns and take necessary precautions while traveling.
