Brazil offers a rich blend of vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Gabonese travelers. With its well-developed tourism infrastructure, the country features diverse attractions, including famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest. This variety could attract a segment of Gabon's 2 million population.
Brazil presents certain safety concerns for tourists, especially when compared to Gabon. According to the Global Peace Index, Brazil is ranked 129th out of 160 countries, while Gabon ranks higher at 116th. The murder rate in Brazil is 22.5 per 100,000 people, with a specific female murder rate of 3.5, though comparable data for Gabon is not available. In terms of organized crime, Brazil scores significantly worse across various indices. For instance, mafia groups in Brazil are rated 7.5 (on a scale where 1 is best), while Gabon scores 1.0. Other areas of concern include higher ratings for crime networks, state crime, and arms trafficking in Brazil compared to Gabon. Overall, while Brazil is a popular tourist destination, travelers from Gabon should be aware of the elevated crime rates and take necessary precautions.
