Brazil offers a rich array of cultural experiences and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Egyptians. Its well-developed tourism infrastructure supports a variety of attractions, from famous beaches to the Amazon rainforest, which may attract a segment of Egypt's 111 million population.
Brazil presents certain safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to Egypt. According to the Global Peace Index, Brazil ranks 129th out of 160 countries, while Egypt is ranked 103rd, indicating that Brazil is generally less safe. Crime statistics reveal significant differences in murder rates, with Brazil's rate at 22.5 per 100,000 people compared to Egypt's 2.6. Additionally, female murder rates are also higher in Brazil (3.5) than in Egypt (0.5). The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights challenges in Brazil, with higher scores indicating worse conditions in various categories. For instance, Brazil scores 7.5 for mafia groups and 9.0 for cocaine trade, while Egypt scores 3.0 and 2.0, respectively. Overall, while Brazil has many attractions for tourists, visitors from Egypt should be aware of the higher crime rates and take necessary precautions.
