Brazil offers a captivating blend of vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Estonian travelers. With a robust tourism infrastructure that includes famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest, it has the potential to attract a portion of the 600,000 Estonians who travel abroad annually.
Brazil presents a different safety landscape for tourists compared to Estonia. While Estonia ranks 4th in safety among European countries for walking alone at night, Brazil is ranked 129th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, indicating a higher risk environment. In terms of crime statistics, Estonia has a murder rate of 2.0 per 100,000 people, while Brazil's rate is significantly higher at 22.5. Additionally, female murder rates are 0.6 in Estonia compared to 3.5 in Brazil. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights concerns, with Brazil scoring worse in several categories, such as mafia groups (7.5), state crime (8.5), and various trafficking crimes. Overall, while many tourists visit Brazil without incident, it is essential for travelers from Estonia to remain vigilant and informed about safety measures when traveling in Brazil.
