Brazil offers a rich blend of vibrant culture and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for Chilean visitors. With a well-developed tourism infrastructure that includes famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest, it attracts a portion of the 500,000 Chileans who travel abroad annually.
Brazil presents certain safety concerns for tourists, particularly when compared to Chile. According to the Global Peace Index, Brazil ranks 129th out of 160 countries, while Chile is significantly safer at 62nd. The murder rate in Brazil is notably higher, at 22.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Chile's 3.6. This trend continues with female murder rates and various crime indices, where Brazil generally scores worse than Chile across categories such as organized crime, state crime, and arms trafficking. While many tourists visit Brazil without incident, it is advisable for travelers from Chile to remain vigilant, stay informed about local safety conditions, and take necessary precautions.
