Brazil offers a rich array of vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Belizeans. Its well-developed tourism infrastructure supports a variety of attractions, including famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest, which could attract a segment of Belize's population.
Brazil presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Belize. The Global Peace Index ranks Brazil 129th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of violence and crime. In terms of murder rates, Brazil has a rate of 22.5 per 100,000 people, which is lower than Belize's rate of 31.2. However, both countries face challenges with organized crime. For instance, Brazil scores higher in several organized crime indices, particularly in state crime (8.5) and drug-related issues like cocaine trade (9.0), compared to Belize's scores. While Brazil has areas that are safe for tourists, it is advisable for visitors to remain vigilant, stay informed about local conditions, and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during their travels.
