Brazil offers a rich cultural experience and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some of Benin's 13 million residents. Its diverse attractions, including famous beaches and the Amazon rainforest, enhance its tourism appeal.
Brazil presents certain safety concerns for tourists, particularly those coming from Benin. According to the Global Peace Index, Brazil ranks 129th out of 160 countries, making it less safe than Benin, which ranks 112th. Crime statistics reveal significant differences in safety levels: Brazil has a murder rate of 22.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Benin's much lower rate of 1.1. Additionally, Brazil faces challenges with organized crime, reflected in its Global Organized Crime Index scores, where higher values indicate worse conditions. For instance, Brazil scores 7.5 for mafia groups and 8.5 for state crime, while Benin scores 1.0 and 6.0, respectively. Overall, while Brazil is a popular tourist destination, travelers from Benin should be aware of the higher crime rates and potential safety risks when visiting.
