Brazil offers a rich and diverse tourism experience, featuring vibrant cultures and stunning landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Bulgarian travelers. With 4.1 million Bulgarians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Brazil's iconic beaches and the Amazon rainforest particularly attractive.
Brazil presents certain safety concerns for tourists, including those from Bulgaria. While Bulgaria ranks 26th in safety according to the Global Peace Index, Brazil is significantly lower at 129th out of 160 countries. Crime statistics highlight this disparity: Bulgaria has a murder rate of 1.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Brazil's 22.5. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with Bulgaria at 0.8 and Brazil at 3.5. In terms of organized crime, Bulgaria generally fares better, with lower indices across various categories compared to Brazil. For instance, Brazil scores higher in mafia activity, state crime, and drug trafficking, indicating a more challenging environment for safety. Overall, while many tourists visit Brazil without incident, it is advisable for Bulgarian travelers to exercise caution and stay informed about local safety conditions.
