Brazil offers a rich array of cultural experiences and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for some Austrian travelers. With 7.5 million Austrians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Brazil's iconic beaches and the Amazon rainforest particularly enticing.
Brazil presents a different safety landscape for tourists compared to Austria. While Austria ranks 3rd in safety among European countries, Brazil is ranked 129th out of 160 countries according to the Global Peace Index. In terms of crime statistics, Austria has a significantly lower murder rate of 0.7 per 100,000 people, while Brazil's rate is much higher at 22.5. Female murder rates also reflect this disparity, with Austria at 0.9 and Brazil at 3.5. The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights the differences, with Austria scoring better across various crime categories, such as mafia groups (2.0 for Austria vs. 7.5 for Brazil) and state crime (4.0 for Austria vs. 8.5 for Brazil). Overall, while many tourists visit Brazil and enjoy their experiences, it is essential for those coming from Austria to be aware of the higher crime rates and take necessary precautions.
