Benin offers a unique cultural experience and an improving tourism infrastructure, making it an appealing destination for some Turkish travelers. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, there is potential for a notable interest in visiting Benin, especially given its rich attractions and recent growth in international tourism.
Benin is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Türkiye, based on various safety metrics. According to the Global Peace Index, Benin ranks 112th out of 160 countries, while Türkiye is ranked 137th, indicating a relatively higher level of safety in Benin. In terms of crime statistics, Benin has a lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people compared to Türkiye's 2.5. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Benin scores significantly better in areas such as mafia groups (1.0 for Benin vs. 8.0 for Türkiye) and overall organized crime. While there is no specific data on safety for walking alone at night in Benin, the overall crime and violence statistics suggest that tourists from Türkiye may find Benin to be a safer destination. However, as with any travel, it's advisable for tourists to remain vigilant and informed about local conditions.
