Bulgaria offers a rich blend of historical and natural attractions, combining ancient culture with modern hospitality, making it a noteworthy European destination. With over seven million foreign visitors each year, it has the potential to attract a segment of the 20.3 million Chinese travelers who explore international destinations annually.
Bulgaria is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from China. It ranks 21st among 40 European countries regarding safety while walking alone at night. The Global Peace Index places Bulgaria 26th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety compared to China, which ranks 87th. In terms of crime statistics, Bulgaria has a murder rate of 1.3 per 100,000 people, compared to China's 0.5. However, organized crime indices suggest that Bulgaria has lower scores in various categories, indicating less organized crime activity compared to China. Overall, while there are some safety concerns, Bulgaria is viewed as a safer option for tourists compared to many other countries, including China.
