Belgium is an appealing destination for some of Rwanda's 14 million residents, thanks to its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and vibrant cities like Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp. Its blend of history and modern attractions makes it a noteworthy choice for travelers.
Belgium is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Rwanda. According to the Global Peace Index, Belgium ranks 16th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety, while Rwanda is ranked 90th. In terms of crime statistics, Belgium has a lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people compared to Rwanda's 3.6. Additionally, Belgium has better scores in various organized crime indices, although it does face challenges with certain types of crime. While Belgium ranks 39th for safety when walking alone at night among European countries, overall, it is safer than Rwanda in many aspects. Tourists should remain vigilant, as in any country, but Belgium is a relatively safe destination.
