Belgium offers a compelling mix of cultural heritage and modern attractions, making it an appealing destination for some of Myanmar's 54 million Bamar people. Its historical significance, stunning architecture, and vibrant cities such as Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp contribute to its attractiveness for visitors.
Belgium is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Myanmar. According to the Global Peace Index, Belgium ranks 16th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety, especially compared to Myanmar, which ranks 145th. In terms of crime statistics, Belgium has a significantly lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Myanmar's 28.4. However, Belgium ranks 39th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, which suggests some caution is advisable in certain areas. Additionally, organized crime indices indicate that Belgium has lower scores in various crime categories compared to Myanmar, highlighting a safer environment overall. In summary, while no destination is without risk, Belgium is a safer option for tourists compared to Myanmar.
