Belgium is an appealing destination for some Ghanaians due to its rich cultural heritage and modern attractions. The country's historical significance, stunning architecture, and vibrant cities like Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp contribute to its popularity among tourists, attracting millions each year.
Belgium is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Ghana. According to the Global Peace Index, Belgium ranks 16th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety. In contrast, Ghana ranks 54th. However, Belgium ranks 39th in safety while walking alone at night among 40 European countries, suggesting some caution is advisable in certain areas. In terms of crime statistics, Belgium has a lower murder rate (1.1 per 100,000 people) compared to Ghana (1.8). Additionally, Belgium has better scores in various crime indices, particularly in state crime (2.0 for Belgium vs. 7.5 for Ghana) and flora crime (2.5 vs. 6.5). Overall, while there are some safety concerns, Belgium is relatively safer than Ghana, making it a suitable destination for tourists.
