Belgium is an appealing destination for some Spanish visitors due to its rich cultural heritage and modern attractions. With millions of Spaniards traveling abroad annually, a portion may find the historical sites and vibrant cities like Brussels, Bruges, and Antwerp particularly enticing.
Belgium's safety for tourists coming from Spain presents a mixed picture. While Belgium ranks lower than Spain in terms of safety while walking alone at night (39th vs. Spain's 22nd), it is considered one of the safest countries globally, ranked 16th out of 160 in the Global Peace Index, compared to Spain's 23rd. In terms of murder rates, Belgium has a higher rate at 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Spain's 0.6. However, female murder rates are lower in Belgium at 0.2, compared to Spain's 0.4. Regarding organized crime, Belgium has lower scores in various categories, indicating a relatively better situation in terms of state crime and certain trafficking activities. Overall, while Belgium has some safety concerns, it remains a safe destination for tourists, albeit with different challenges compared to Spain.
