Bangladesh presents a unique and evolving tourism profile, characterized by lush landscapes and diverse cultures, which could appeal to some Russian travelers. While it currently ranks low in tourist arrivals, the country attracts visitors looking for authentic cultural experiences and natural beauty. With 12.4 million Russians traveling abroad annually, a segment of this population may find Bangladesh an intriguing destination.
Bangladesh is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Russia, based on various safety and crime indices. The Global Peace Index ranks Bangladesh 91st out of 160 countries, while Russia is ranked 154th, indicating a higher level of safety in Bangladesh. In terms of murder rates, Bangladesh has a significantly lower rate at 2.4 per 100,000 people compared to Russia's 6.8. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that while both countries face organized crime, Bangladesh scores better in several categories, particularly in foreign crime (Bangladesh: 2.0 vs. Russia: 5.0) and resource crime (Bangladesh: 3.5 vs. Russia: 5.0). Overall, while no destination is without risk, tourists from Russia may find Bangladesh to be a relatively safer option for travel.
