Bangladesh boasts lush landscapes and a rich cultural heritage, making it an increasingly appealing destination for some Malaysian travelers. Although it currently ranks lower in tourist arrivals, it attracts those interested in authentic cultural experiences and natural beauty. This could resonate with a segment of Malaysia's 34 million population.
Bangladesh has a moderate safety rating for tourists compared to Malaysia. According to the Global Peace Index, Bangladesh ranks 91st out of 160 countries, while Malaysia ranks significantly higher at 10th. The murder rate in Bangladesh is 2.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Malaysia's low rate of 0.7. In terms of organized crime, both countries have similar indices, but Bangladesh generally scores worse in areas such as state crime (7.0 for Bangladesh vs. 6.0 for Malaysia) and human trafficking (8.0 for Bangladesh vs. 6.5 for Malaysia). While many tourists visit Bangladesh without issues, it's advisable for travelers from Malaysia to stay informed and exercise caution, particularly in urban areas.
