Bangladesh, with its lush landscapes and diverse cultures, presents an intriguing option for some travelers from Brunei. Although it currently sees fewer tourist arrivals, the country is gradually gaining recognition for its authentic cultural experiences and natural beauty, appealing to a segment of Bruneians interested in unique travel opportunities.
Bangladesh's safety for tourists, including those from Brunei, presents some concerns. According to the Global Peace Index, Bangladesh ranks 91st out of 160 countries, indicating a moderate level of safety. The murder rate in Bangladesh is 2.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Brunei's low rate of 0.5. In terms of organized crime, Bangladesh has higher indices across various categories, such as mafia groups (5.5), state crime (7.0), and human trafficking (8.0), indicating a more significant presence of organized crime compared to Brunei, which scores much lower in these areas. While many tourists visit Bangladesh without incident, it's advisable for travelers from Brunei to stay informed about local conditions, exercise caution, and follow travel advisories.
