Barbados offers a compelling destination for Bulgarian travelers, featuring stunning beaches, a vibrant culture, and a developing tourism infrastructure. Despite a recent decline in foreign visitors, the island remains attractive due to high tourist spending per arrival, indicating quality experiences. With 4.1 million Bulgarians traveling abroad annually, there is potential interest in visiting Barbados among this group.
Barbados is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Bulgaria, but it is important to note some differences in crime statistics. While Bulgaria has a low murder rate of 1.3 per 100,000 people, Barbados has a significantly higher rate of 11.4. Additionally, female murder rates are also higher in Barbados (4.1) compared to Bulgaria (0.8). In terms of organized crime, Bulgaria has better indices in several areas, such as crime networks (6.5 for Bulgaria vs. 4.5 for Barbados) and state crime (7.5 for Bulgaria vs. 4.0 for Barbados). However, Barbados scores better in areas like foreign crime (2.0) compared to Bulgaria (4.5) and has lower indices for human trafficking and smuggling. Overall, while Barbados has higher violent crime rates, many tourists visit safely each year. It is advisable for travelers to stay informed, take common safety precautions, and remain aware of their surroundings.
