Azerbaijan presents a compelling option for Kazakh travelers, showcasing a blend of cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. While tourism numbers have varied recently, the country's significance as a travel destination is on the rise. With 3.5 million Kazakh citizens traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Azerbaijan appealing for their travels.
Azerbaijan's safety for tourists from Kazakhstan can be assessed through various indices. According to the Global Peace Index, Azerbaijan ranks 104th out of 160 countries, which is lower than Kazakhstan's ranking of 57th. In terms of murder rates, Azerbaijan has a lower rate at 1.9 per 100,000 people compared to Kazakhstan's 3.2. However, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates higher levels of organized crime in Azerbaijan, with mafia groups and crime networks rated worse than in Kazakhstan. Specifically, Azerbaijan scores 5.5 for mafia groups and crime networks, while Kazakhstan scores 3.5 and 4.0, respectively. Overall, while Azerbaijan may present lower murder rates, the higher organized crime indices suggest that tourists should remain vigilant. It's advisable for travelers to stay informed and take standard safety precautions while visiting Azerbaijan.
