In comparison, Portugal ranks 7th, suggesting that while both countries are safe, Portugal is slightly safer overall. Regarding crime statistics, the murder rate in Australia is 0.7 per 100,000 people, which is slightly lower than Portugal's rate of 0.8. Additionally, Australia has lower rates of female murders (0.4) compared to Portugal (0.6).
