Australia is an appealing destination for many Malaysians, thanks to its breathtaking landscapes and diverse tourism experiences. The combination of natural wonders and lively urban environments attracts millions of visitors, making it a noteworthy choice for a segment of Malaysia's 34 million population.
Australia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Malaysia. According to the Global Peace Index, Australia ranks 19th out of 160 countries, while Malaysia ranks higher at 10th. Both countries have similar murder rates of 0.7 per 100,000 people. In terms of organized crime, Malaysia has slightly better scores in several categories, but Australia shows lower risks in areas like human trafficking and arms trafficking. Overall, while Australia is safe, travelers should remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings, as in any country.
