Australia is an appealing destination for Indian visitors, known for its breathtaking landscapes and diverse tourism experiences. The country’s combination of natural beauty and lively urban environments attracts millions of travelers. With 8.6 million Indians traveling abroad annually, a portion of them is likely to consider Australia for their travels.
Australia is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from India. According to the Global Peace Index, Australia ranks 19th out of 160 countries, significantly safer than India, which ranks 114th. In terms of crime statistics, Australia has a much lower murder rate of 0.7 per 100,000 people compared to India's rate of 2.9. Additionally, female murder rates are also lower in Australia (0.4) than in India (2.5). The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights differences in safety, with Australia scoring better in several categories, particularly in state crime (Australia: 2.0 vs. India: 6.0) and resource crime (Australia: 2.0 vs. India: 7.0). Overall, while no country is without risks, Australia offers a relatively safe environment for tourists compared to India.
