The United Arab Emirates is an appealing destination for some Bulgarian travelers, thanks to its iconic skyscrapers and luxurious resorts that attract millions annually. While tourist arrivals can vary, the UAE's reputation for exceptional hospitality makes it a noteworthy option. With 4.1 million Bulgarians traveling abroad each year, a portion may find the UAE an interesting place to visit.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is considered relatively safe for tourists, including those from Bulgaria. According to the Global Peace Index, the UAE ranks 52nd out of 160 countries, while Bulgaria ranks 26th. In terms of murder rates, the UAE has a lower rate (0.5 per 100,000 people) compared to Bulgaria (1.3). However, Bulgaria performs better in various organized crime indices, with lower scores indicating less organized crime activity compared to the UAE. For instance, Bulgaria has a mafia group index of 4.5, while the UAE scores 1.0, indicating a lower presence of mafia groups in the UAE. Overall, while the UAE is generally safe, travelers should remain aware of their surroundings and exercise standard precautions, as they would in any foreign country.
